Agnosticism

There's an old joke that goes:

An agnostic dyslexic is someone who wakes up in the middle of the night wondering if there is a dog

It's funny, short, sweet, a great laugh. However, the assumption at the heart of this joke is a common misconception when people talk about agnostics. That is, that agnostics are simply people who haven't decided if God exists or just don't know.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. Agnostics are people who believe that the existence or lack thereof of a supernatural deity is unprovable. Our lack of belief in deism or atheism is not a lack of a decision on our part, rather it is a very firm belief that the question is pointless.

For myself, I take this a step further by believing that the existence of God is irrelevant and unimportant to how people live their lives.
